LOGLINE
When you're
at the bottom, the only way is up… Facing massive debts and family
melt down, Griffin embarks on an extraordinary business venture to make
or break his life.
SYNOPSIS
Griffin is a creative young man with big dreams. However, life doesn't
always turn out the way you expect it. He and his friend Larry made art-house
films at college, but nothing came of it. He also had the hearts for a
girl named Candice, but instead he ended up with Leila. And so he fell
into a life of studying law mainly because his authoritative father, Maurizio
forced him to. But how can he follow a career that doesn't interest him?
Maurizio gives him an ultimatum - finish the course or be banished from
the family and pay back his debts. Griffin has to decide between his heart
and his wallet… he decides to be brave and follow his own path.
Griffin goes to Larry for advice, but Larry has problems of his own; his
house has been broken into three times, the local gangsters are threatening
him and he has debts coming out of his ears. They're both in real trouble.
On the way home, Griffin takes a wrong turn and breaks down in an eerie
industrial estate. There he experiences various misfortunes; his cell
phone refuses to work, he only has one coin for the public phone and the
operator doesn't understand him, and incredibly his shoe gets trapped
under the car. Stuck there for the night, he hears music from a club in
the distance. Intrigued, he enters the place that changes his life forever.
The club, full of liberated girls and drugs, is an epiphany for Griffin.
He and Larry borrow heavily and set up a porno business, Poodle Productions
to make low budget movies with girls from the club. After only a few months
they make big profits, and diversify onto the Internet. Though Griffin
is a success in business, his life is a mess. His relationship with his
father further deteriorates, Leila's father dies of a heart attack, the
porno lifestyle of girls and cocaine has a detrimental effect on him and
he realises how much he still loves Candice - but there are two surprising
reverses that shockingly bring home the harsh realities of life and porn.
Things get even worse when a competitor employs a violent thug to threaten
them. Larry and Griffin strike back and find the location of the thug's
mysterious employer. Griffin and Larry sneak into the corporate boardroom
where numerous executives are seated. Surprisingly the boss, who hides
in the shadows, is expecting them and is very polite. He shows them a
video promotion for a multi-million dollar virtual sex unit. The video
declares the merger of Gladiator and Poodle; obviously, the boss was planning
this from the start. Then - the moment of truth. The boss approaches Griffin
and reveals his true identity. To an enchanted press the new partnership
is announced - Maurizio and Son. They march like conquerors into a new
world order of porn.
