In a future world obsessed with money, image and status, can human emotion ever be bought and sold?

SYNOPSIS
Night. Rainy city streets. LUCIA, 31, takes a shower inside an affluent, high-tech loft apartment. A BMW mysteriously arrives in the car-park below. The driver is CASSIUS, 35, trying to hide a nervous disposition. The passenger is JANS, 24, afraid and about to complete his first transaction on his own. They pull up and Jans takes JULE, 19, a petite and curiously attractive girl into the apartment block. Cassius, alone in the BMW, watches them on his laptop via a live TV feed.

In the lift, the live TV feed to the BMW cracks up. Alone, Jans shows his secret love for Jule, but all is not as it seems. As the lift doors open, and the live feed restarts, Jans regains his control and walks Jule to Lucia's apartment.

Inside, the atmosphere is tense. Dead plants are everywhere. Dead leaves fill the floor. Everything is death and decay. Jans looks around, visibly moved. Jule shows no emotion.

Lucia appears. For her, this is business: she smears the lipstick off Jule to check for quality and is concerned about Jule's age. Jans attempts to quell her fears, but then Lucia states she won't purchase without verification. Jans is surprised - purchase? Lucia asks to speak to his boss. Jans hesitates, then passes his communications ear-piece to Lucia. Lucia talks and, instantly, Cassius recognizes the voice...

The potential sale becomes rental. Jans quickly leaves the apartment and angrily speaks to Cassius, who tries to placate him by explaining that he will reveal everything only once he returns to the car. Meanwhile, in the apartment, Jule relaxes Lucia in a bath. Lucia is nervous, anxious, unable to be calm. As Jule kisses her forehead, Lucia's anxiety rises.

In the BMW, Cassius explains how he loved Lucia, how she meant everything to him, but she was detached and married to work, not him. This left Cassius emotionally scarred and made him see that falling in love is nothing but a path to pain. As a droid dealer, Cassius cannot be seen to be in 'real love' - his profession requires integrity. Jans realises Cassius wants to rid Lucia from his life any way he can and gets out of the car to run back toward the apartment…

As Jule seduces Lucia, Lucia's anxiety grows. Jule develops a grip around Lucia's neck in an attempt to kill her. They struggle, violently. Lucia pushes Jule into the bath where she 'drowns'. The live TV feed dies. Jans runs into the apartment, too late. Jule is dead. Jans is devastated, but then finds in Lucia what he was looking for all the time...

Helpless, Cassius starts his BMW and drives away.
