               FADE IN:

               EXT. RESTAURANT - NIGHT

An affluent, futuristic street. Chairs and seats outside.
PEOPLE sit around. The mood is relaxed and calm.

               People walk past.

Fish flaps against a tiled floor O.S.

               INT. HOTEL ROOM - NIGHT

An unmade bed, an open window, an open door, a smouldering
cigarette butt in the ashtray on the table.

               Sounds of approaching sirens.

Reflected in the side of a full length mirror, TRAVELLER
stands there. He is in his sixties, his face hidden by an old
fashioned trilby hat, his body lean, tall, covered in a suit.

Sounds of cars screech to a halt outside. More sirens.

Behind Traveller, reflected in the mirror, a fish flaps
horribly against the bathroom floor, water splashed
               everywhere.

The sound of the fish becomes louder, louder.

               EXT. RESTAURANT - NIGHT

More people walk slowly past. Some sit, others look around.

Underneath the table is a black box where a red light flashes
on and off, on and off.

               People walk past, unaware.

               INT. HOTEL ROOM - NIGHT

Breeze blows the curtain over the table.

Pages from a large book blow open and shut.

Water drips from the table, smashes on the floor.

               STAIRS

Many boots run quickly up stairs.

               EXT. RESTAURANT - NIGHT

               People walk calmly past.

               Everything slows.

               INT. HOTEL ROOM

               Urgent hammering on the door.

               Water drips, hits the floor.

Sound of the hotel door being smashed against.

Another drip of water. Another crash as it lands.

               The door shatters inwards, splinters.

               Boots run in all directions.

               BATHROOM

Fish flaps desperately on the floor.

Next to the fish is a discarded box of matches. On its cover
               is a fish hieroglyph.

The flapping fish noise becomes unbearably loud.

               EXT. HOTEL ROOM - NIGHT

Silhouetted figure of Traveller stands in half-light.

He looks up towards the window of the hotel where shadows
               show the room being ransacked.

               Sounds of shouts, things smashed.

A flicker of a smile across Traveller's face.

               EXT. RESTAURANT - NIGHT

               People walk past. Sudden calmness.

               Slowness.

               Stillness.

               HUGE EXPLOSION.

The interior of the restaurant smashes outwards, spraying out
               debris and bones.

Sirens. Screams. Blood. Smoke and debris. High pitched sirens
               and alarms.

                                                         FADE TO BLACK.

EXT. STREET - NIGHT (BLACKNESS. SOUND ONLY.)

               Door opens.

               An engine ticks over.

               A badly tuned radio plays.

                                   DRIVER (O.S.)
                         Kien?

                                   TRAVELLER (O.S.)
                         Stacio mara... Rapide.

                                   DRIVER (O.S.)
                         Okej, okej, okej....

Traveller gets into the taxi, and it drives away - fast.

                                                               FADE IN:

EXT. STREET OVER BRIDGE - NIGHT

An old fashioned taxi rides across a huge, futuristic bridge.

The city is dark with huge tower blocks, lights in the sky.

               TAXI - MOVING

An old, worn suitcase, clutched to Traveller's lap.

Traveller's reflection is distorted by street lights and the
rain drenched window. The outline of his hat shadows the
               face.

               The taxis' radio garbles static.

                                   FEMALE VOICE ON STEREO
                         Loko. Taksio. Loko. Taksio

Traveller nervously looks out the window. Street lights shine
on him, but his face is hidden.

               Darkness.

More street lights. Traveller clutches the suitcase tighter,
stares forward at the fish charm that swings from the
               windscreen mirror of the taxi.

               Darkness.

Street lights show a deep scar, in the shape of a fish, on
               the side of Traveller's face.

                                                         FADE TO BLACK.

               EXT. STACIO MARA - NIGHT

Taxi pulls up, ticks over by the kerb.

                                                               FADE IN:

               TAXI

Taxi light goes on. The old fashioned mile-ometer is totaled.

                                   DRIVER (O.S.)
                         Okdek akuzi pri.

DRIVER extends his hand. A wedge of notes is stuffed into it.
               Driver tuts with acknowledgment.

               Car door slams shut.

               Darkness.

               The taxi drives away.

Drivers head and shoulders are in silhouette. The mile-ometer
               is manually reset to zero.

In Drivers' mirror, the back seat is empty. Drivers eyes are
               partially seen.

Traveller walks away from the kerb - rapidly shrinks into
darkness as the car accelerates away.

Drivers eyes drop down and focus on the road.

               EXT. STACIO MARA - NIGHT

Grand entrance, dark and looming. Unknown lights illuminate
the sky behind. People and vehicles move around.

Traveller looks towards the doors, picks up his case.

               In silhouette, he walks in.

               INT. STACIO MARA - NIGHT

A large clock dial clicks loudly to 11.30pm.

               An overhead fan turns.

A pigeon coos in a dark recess.

Dried excrement decorates a crumbling wall.

                                   P.A.
                             (muffled)
                         Atlantia, Okdek. Indiana, akuzi.

Clicker-clacks of the arrivals and departures board.

               The suitcase is placed down.

SOUND of a match being struck.

A cigarette is lit, its flames consuming it.

The dead match hits the floor, bounces.

                                                               WIPE TO:

INT. STACIO MARA - OUTSIDE TELEPHONE BOOTHS - NIGHT

Telephone booth door closes, reveals the reflection of
               Traveller as he walks away.

Six telephone booths, worn and old, reflect the stations
               flashing neon signs.

INSERT: Traveller's wristwatch, simple white on black
geometric design of a fish hieroglyph, shows 11.37.

                                                           DISSOLVE TO:

INT. STACIO MARA - MAIN CONCOURSE - NIGHT

Seen from above, the marble floor has an identical design as
               the watch.

PEOPLE walk on it, bustle past.

Traveller looks at the Departures and Arrivals board.

The Departures and Arrivals board is mainly empty. A few
places are lit up. A line of arrivals flutter like dominoes.

               "Pacifica" 12.00 - ON TIME: GATE 9.

Traveller turns, stares directly into camera.

Water drips from the suitcase at Traveller's feet.

                                   ONE ARMED BLINDMAN (O.S.)
                         Coco, coco -

Traveller turns and sees ONE ARMED BLINDMAN, who stands in
front of POLICEMAN, who takes notes.

                                   ONE ARMED BLINDMAN
                         Coco, coco.

Policeman catches sight of Traveller with a quick, suspicious
glance over the top of his notebook.

Traveller shifts one foot forward, touches his case, subtly
               nervous.

                                   ONE ARMED BLINDMAN
                             (shouts)
                         COCO, COCO, COCO!

Traveller shifts his gaze to PEOPLE who sit on a bench.

A dog is chained to a lead that's attached to a prosthetic
               arm.

               NUN eats an apple.

BOY sits with his GRANDMA, severe and bored.

VELVET looks over the top of her newspaper with dark glasses.
Her face is covered in intricate spider webs. She is
beautiful, deadly, pale. She wears a black headscarf and
               sunglasses.

The newspaper has the fish hieroglyph on its back page as
               part of the classified's.

Varnished nails fold the paper down.

Velvet turns her head. Reflected in each lens of her dark
sunglasses are Traveller and the fish hieroglyph.

               BING BONG from P.A.

                                   P.A. (O.S.)
                         Atlantia, akuzi. Atlantia, akuzi.

Velvet shifts her head. Policeman and One Armed Blindman are
reflected in both lenses of the glasses.

                                   P.A. (O.S.)
                         Pacifica.

Velvet tilts her head to her original position. Traveller has
gone, leaving only the reflection of the fish hieroglyph.

Where Traveller stood, on the geometric floor design, is a
               puddle of water.
