'Black Mass'

When prisoners in solitary confinement are mysteriously killed, the media are gripped by news of 'ghost' killings and a conspiracy emerges linking them to black ops, psychics and a malevolent dark force. Can it be stopped before it spreads?

SYNOPSIS
When MICHEAL BOWLEY is found bludgeoned to death in FORT BRANDON SUPER MAXIMUM-SECURITY PRISON, San Antonio, Texas, it looks like an open and shut case. But when LIEUTENANT RACHEL WEST, 32, investigates, she quickly finds anomalies and strange resonance's with previous prison killings. When a second prisoner is killed, she knows she's opened a can of worms. Her fears are conformed when FBI agent CASPER STEIN, 40, turns up and attempts to take over the case. They clash, both in methods and egos. Casper attempts to explain away the killings, but Rachel becomes convinced that he is attempting to cover them up. When the Prisoner Officer is also killed, Rachel's worst fears are confirmed. She follows Casper to a seedy night-club where he meets KELLAN, who reveals he's an ex-member of an illicit branch of Military Intelligence that is behind the deaths.

Rachel approaches Casper, but the evidence is covered up. In a violent series of killings, Casper is made to question which side he's on. He decides to help Rachel, but he only has a chance to reveal a little before he's killed. Rachel is framed and, in a desperate attempt to find out what's going on, breaks into Casper's apartment and finds a dossier of evidence. Kellan shows himself, but before they have a chance to talk, Gamma Units chase them. They speed through town, till Kellan turns the car over and it explodes. Kellan and Rachel run from the crash scene, break into another car and drive quickly way. Rachel is a wanted woman. Strange 'ghost' killing ravage the country. And terrible things are about to happen.

Led by Kellan, they go to Santa Ana, California, at the highly secretive Axadron Complex. There, they seek out and question XRC1 - the scientist behind the project. They find out the secret hideaway of the 'Little Child', the psychic at the centre of the paranormal and psychic research. The 'black op' kills through the psychic, and the prison deaths are their series of experiments. As they run away, Kellan is apprehended. Rachel escapes, but she's all alone against the clandestine organisation. Her bank accounts have been frozen; her home has been ransacked; and she is being followed by the Black Mass, a dark and terrifying apparition.

Rachel desperately approaches James Fairfax, the Defence secretary, and tells him what's going on. He is doubtful, then realises the terrifying truth. He is given a stark choice by people high up in the government - follow the project or be killed. Meanwhile, Kellan escapes the Gamma Units in a violent struggle, but ends up in hospital. He fights his way out, but everything looks bleak.

Rachel kidnaps the Little Child and is led to XRC1. Together they go back to the Axadron Complex where Rachel tries to undo the Project. But the results are terrifying and destructive. In a violent denouement of reverses and death, the Black Mass takes form, leaving Rachel and Kellan more to fight against than just the huge conspiracy.
