Peter
Devonald is a multi-award-winning scriptwriter and producer, operating in the
creative and corporate fields. His intelligent, tightly-structured writing has
underpinned short films, features, television and online series/ virals, and his
work has shown in over 80 international film festivals. Peter's work has won best
drama at the New York Film Festival, winner of the main Jury prize at the 2008
Wood Green International Film Fest and winner of Branchage International Film
Festival "Cutting Hedge" award 2009.
Peter
currently has several ongoing feature commissions including: GUY'S REQUIEM
*** Commissioned true life story based on WWII POW's letters. Exec Producers:
John Nicolson and Pamela Blundell. THE CHERUB HOUSE *** Optioned
by Not A Number Productions. Producer: Rachel Richardson-Jones. Director: Simeon
Halligan. Exec Producer: Clive Parsons. Peter was also one of the writers of the
Bafta nominated THOSE SCURVY RASCALS (dir. Oli Hyatt. Entara Ltd/ Blue-Zoo),
which won best Children's Series and Choice Award at the 10th British Animation
Awards.
His latest film,
GIRL LIKE ME (F.K.A WASTED) (dir. Rowland Jobson. [S16]. Seefood), is Winner
of the Haringey Film Award, UK Film Council. The film includes Robbie Ryan (DoP
Brick Lane, Wasp), Helen Scott (Prod Designer Red Road, Wasp) and Steven Elder
(Afterlife, Eastenders and Coronation Street). UK FC Completion funding. Co-producers

Throughout
his career Peter has placed in screenwriting awards, including winner of the Haringey
Film Award (2007), semi-finalist in The British Screenplay competition (2006),
final shortlists for UKFC funding in London/ Midlands (2006), nine Top Screenplays
on Coppola's Zoetrope (2005-2001), Winner of The Times award to attend the National
Academy Of Writing (2003), Winner of Raindance Live Ammunition (2003), top ten
on Kevin Spacey's Triggerstreet (2003) and final shortlist (18 from 2000) in the
Lloyds Bank Film Challenge (1993). His theatre and radio works have been short-listed
three times for the Woolwich Radio Playwrights Award (1996-7), shortlisted at
the 11th Playwriting Festival (Warehouse, 1996), finalist at the International
Playscript Competition (1995), and winner of the London Playwright Of Year (1992).
Peter Devonald was also the judge/ mentor for the Sir Peter Ustinov Television
Scriptwriting Award (iEMMYS, New York, 2003-6).
Born
in Watford, England, in 1973, Peter trained as a writer studying Theatre at Lancaster
University from 1992-95. He attended The Northern Film School (Leeds) and National
Academy Of Writing (awarded best script: Celia Brayfield/ Paul Ashton). Peter
had 13 theatre shows performed from 1991-2001, inc. Palace Theatre (Watford),
T.I.E. tour and Contact Theatre (2001). In 1995 MASKS
AND ANGELS (Nuffield, starring Ben Crystal) received a special award for excellence
from the NSDF.
