Writer/Director/Producer David Orr graduated from Mississippi State University with a bachelor's degree in theatre and quickly moved to Los Angeles to pursue his first love--movies. Orr broke into the film business as an actor, but soon found writing and directing to be his true passion. Orr has handled production positions on all ends of the budget spectrum, from the guerilla pictures of Roger Corman to assisting A-list producers on big studio pictures. Orr has also worked for studio executives, most recently working at Miramax Films as a creative coordinator for television and video, reporting directly to the chairman. Diving into producing, Orr formed his own production company Possumtown Pictures. Orr helmed two short films under the Possumtown banner, THE BUM and WHAT MAGIC SLEPT, before producing and directing his first feature film, BLOSSOM TIME, starring Laurel Holloman. BLOSSOM TIME premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival and went on to win several awards on the festival circuit, including the Audience Award Best Feature Film at the Florida Film Festival. Orr's latest making the festival rounds is his satirical short film THE GRIMM CYCLE. Orr is in the financing stages for his next feature, from his script BLACK-EYED SUSAN, and is attached to several feature projects in development. Orr also tackles writing assignments offered by the industry and provides professional criticism for Creative Screenwriting magazine. |
